Founded in 2004, the Jewish Coalition for Literacy (JCL) is an award-winning project of the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, partnering with seven New Haven public schools.
The JCL recruits, trains, places, and supports volunteer reading partners in our local public schools, meeting one-to-one with children to share the pleasures of reading and conversation while enjoying learning in a relaxed, nurturing environment. Students benefit from the interaction with a caring adult, learning together. Davis Street School is honored to celebrate with the many readers visiting Davis Street students to read with them weekly. The fun, knowledge, and attention they have showered our students with is immeasurable. We are grateful for the hard work and commitment of all the JCL readers. Comments are closed.
