11 Davis Street School 7th and 8th grade girls went to Yale on Friday, December 4th, 2015 for a Girls Math Day. The event was run by Mathcounts, an organization at Yale that works with middle school students on math. The 11 girls participated in different math-related activities and celebrated the accomplishments of women in math. They were encouraged by female Yale students to continue to study math as they get older. The morning ended with a visit from Anjelica Gonzalez, a professor of biomedical engineering at Yale. She talked to the girls about how she got into the field of math and science and the great things she gets to do with her career in biomedical engineering. It was a great day for our Davis Street girls!
Davis Street School partnered with CRISP to have a family science night for grades 3, 4, and 5. Families in attendance had the opportunity to participate in a variety of experiments. Students had fun experimenting with color, force, mass, film, and more. What great ideas for science fair projects!
