Today the school was filled with holiday cheer as students across all grade levels participated in the Sights & Sounds of the Season Holiday Extravaganza! From art work that represented Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas, to all of the outstanding performances, it was truly wonderful. Please enjoy some pictures from the day!
Select Choir students grades 2-8 went to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Show in NYC on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. Following the performance, they dined at Ellen's Stardust diner which features singing waitstaff. The dancing Rockettes, the orchestra, and singers were amazing. The digital backdrop and sets, as well as the 3-D scenes were impressive!
What will the city of the future look like to you?" 4th and 5th grade students are working with community partner, Arts for Learning Connecticut, envisioning the New Haven of the future. Each week students are working with visual artists, Jennifer Rae Cherrington and Gerald Moore, or spoken word artists, Versatile Poetiq, and Carol Glynn, to think about their place in the city as people and how it might be designed in the future. Here students are creating a sculpture and discussing the future of New Haven. We are very proud to announce our Honor Roll Students for the first quarter. It's Pink Day here at Davis! Staff and Students were encouraged to wear pink and donate $1. All proceeds from this event benefit the Lisa Anzel Memorial Book Nook located in our own Davis Street Library. Mrs. Lisa Anzel was a beloved first grade teacher at Davis who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2009. The New Haven Symphony Orchestra is once again offering a FREE concert to all K-12 families, parents, teachers, students, and school staff members.
