Pi Day ~ March 14, 2016
Every year we celebrate Pi Day on March 14th because 3.14 are the first three digits in Pi. We celebrated Pi Day here at Davis Street School on Monday, March 14th, 2016. Davis students engaged in many “pi”-themed activities for Pi Day. Here are just some of the many activities that occurred here at Davis: Our 7th and 8th graders participated in a “pi” scavenger hunt on the playground with Mr. Wentworth and Ms. McCray. They also made “Pi” t-shirts in class. Also, they found “pi” by measuring the circumference and diameter of hula hoops. (insert scavenger hunt, t-shirt, and hula hoop pictures) Students in 5th grade made “pi” skylines using graph paper. (insert pi skyline pictures) Ms. Barbour’s students played a game where they had to order the digits of Pi after memorizing as many digits as they could! (insert notecard picture) Students in 4th grade made pi bracelets and found pi by measuring circumference and diameter of circular objects. (insert bracelet and string pictures) Students in grades 3-8 had the opportunity to “pi” a teacher if they could memorize a lot of digits of Pi. Congratulations to Ahad Ansari for memorizing a grand total of 87 digits of Pi!! The winners for each grade level were: Grade 3: D’Andre Thompson Ayoub Abdelfadel Grade 4: Elijah Sorrells Jannat Zouhad Grade 5: Blake Battaglia Ahad Ansari Grade 6: Elena Hogan Perez Angelina Barrett Grade 7: Keona Marie Gomes Tresean Adji Grade 8: Breyona McElveen Hailey Vaught Comments are closed.
